Nokia Video Cuts debuts in 'experimental' form

Published by at

No, not a video editor, as the name might suggest, but rather an experimental way of jumping around your video collection. Working on any S60 5th Edition phone but so far only tested on the N97 and 5800, Nokia Video Cuts is available for trial and feedback now. I've included screenshots, links and an intro video below. If you like or dislike the app then please feedback to Nokia Beta Labs using the links they provide.

After installing, Nokia Video Cuts trawls (slowly - don't believe the on-screen estimate) through your video collection, building up lists of 'key frames'. No, not the raw MP4 keyframes, but rather changes of scene within the movie, as determined by the software. Thumbnails of each can then be provided for quick navigation within each video, as shown below:

Compatibility

  • Supported video formats include: H.263 (.3gp, .3gpp, mp4)
  • Tested on the following devices: Nokia N97 and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
  • Should also be compatible with other S60 v5 touchscreen devices, including Nokia N97 mini, Nokia X6 and Nokia 5230.

Here's the link if you spot a bug or want to feed back.
