The Nokia N97 v20 firmware Q&A
Published by Steve Litchfield at 11:33 UTC, November 5th 2009
On Tuesday evening, I took part in a Nokia first - bloggers from round the world were invited to a (virtual) meet with the people behind a device's firmware, in this case Frank Zillikens, the Lead Firmware Developer, and Catalin Gheorghiu, a member of the technical team responsible for the recent firmware upgrade, both for the huge v20 update for the Nokia N97. Clinton Jeff, also attending, has taken the time to produce a nice summary of the questions and answers. Note that more questions were actually asked and that Nokia said they'd get back to us with answers in due course.

They didn't *really* answer many of the questions, did they?

Nope. Just the easy ones.
I was particularly impressed with the "Never mind the transitions on the video, we like the ones it has now" response...

Go figure Nokia...

You had to like the "V2.0 is so new to us". Erm, they really don't quality test this stuff before shipping it do they?

"With a touch device it is much more easy and convenient to use the finger than using the keypad to get a bookmark started."

Once again the Mac community is forgotten. There are plenty of other phones (not just the iPhone) that support Macs. Nokia is not interested so why spend money on their products?

And the lesson learned is? :o N/A
These "news" are really amazing.

"the Mac community is forgotten"
Not really. iSync works perfectly for the N97 now, it's doddle to sync to iCal and Address Book. And iPhoto imports directly from the N97's mass memory. Etc.
I'm sure you can also use iTunes, but I prefer to drag folder of music files across manually, so I haven't investigated this area.

No internet radio no podcasts. This is supposed to be a media phone! Looked at one today very nice and glossy but why is nokia downgrading everything? Have to stick to N82 for another year because it does everything.
