Qik integrates Facebook Comments and Twitter Sign-on

Published by at

Streaming video service Qik has added in support for Twitter and Facebook into the mobile phone client. Thanks to Oauth (a process that allows one website to authenticate you to another website), you can sign in with either your existing Qik account or your Twitter login details. Qik already posts a link to your Facebook or Twitter accounts if you have this set up, but you can now read the comments from Facebook under your Qik videos, collating them all in one place.

It's a nice touch, and when you're out and about on your mobile, having just the one place to look up for feedback is a great idea. Yes this is a tiny change in the grand scheme of things, but it's enough to make a big change in how Qik can be used.

After you have posted your Qik videos to Facebook and your friends on Facebook comment on these videos, those comments will now also show up in your video comments on qik.com. So rather than having comments scattered between FB and Qik, they will be in both places. To enable this option, go to Edit Networks, click the Facebook icon on the left and then select “Read my newsfeed”.
