App Stores: A Handmark perspective

Eric Pfeifer, Content Acquisition Director at Handmark provides insight into the world of application shops post Apple App Store and Ovi Store, with some interesting indication of applications and content demand from future stores.

“We are also doing more and more on S60 and have new manufacturer storefronts, which will be demanding Symbian content, in the pipeline. Another area we expect to see growing is native Symbian games: games that can make full use of the device features. While most games to date have been delivered in Java we're seeing something of a push to native applications and I’m expecting some stores to be looking exclusively to these high end native games.”

After this interesting post i hope All About Symbian to have finally widely agree that native applications/games are usually quite better than java applications.

And the OVI STORE should improve (a lot) at this point.It is for sure a good thing that it at least started operating.

Improvements.
1.Obvious one...To have the ability to choose from native application than java/flash/python application In the settings.

NEWS.Ovi Store launching with 2000 things to buy.

Of course there are 2000 things to buy.when you fill a store with 5 € Star Trek wallpapers (please are kidding me Nokia).

Over these 2000 things there are only (optimistic) 100 applications.from mobisystems_epocware_psiloc.

I think it would have better reception if they only launched with quality than quantity.
