ZingMagic, the brains behind Chess on the P800 and P900, are now publishing and selling their own applications from the ZingMagic Website. Using a custom web solution from Mobrio, they have all their applciations on-line, and you can purchase them from inside each application. Long term Psion fans will also be glad to hear that all of their EPOC back catalogue is now available as freeware from the same site.
Canalys' quarterly reports always make interesting reading and Q1 2005 is no exception. Highlights include Nokia having a 50% share of ALL PDAs/smartphones WORLDWIDE and Symbian OS having a 61% share overall. And the report even mentions the success of the Nokia 9300 and 9500, which normally get overlooked by such overviews.

First Quarter figures for Nokia (see here on Nokia.com) show sales on the rise, mainly in Asia and the Pacific Region. The overall market share is down to 32% though, namely as American carriers refuse to stock Nokia in the numbers that the Finns would like to see. What stands out in the CEO comments is that Nokia doesn't really have any flagship success stories to shout about - it's just more of the same.
Having seen the demo at 3GSM, it's nice to see Vodafone pick up Visto's Push Email Client. Devices such as the RIM Blackberry have made themselves popular through their always connected push email system. Visto's solution integrates very nicely into Symbian OS. We interviewed Visto recently, so you can find more about them there.
