Mobhappy's Carlo has been blogging about his briefing from a Motorola VP, talking about future UIQ 3 smartphones to follow up the MOTORIZR Z8. Apparently there are some announcements tomorrow....
Proving that AAS is not averse to linking to content relating to rivals(!), Communicator fans will be interested in hearing Michal Jerz interviewed in this week's Voice of S60 audio podcast. Lots of chat about the Communicator's very earliest days and My-Communicator.com, as it was called at the time.
Nokia Ticket Rush launched this week, an SMS-based gig ticket notification service with heavy S60 music smartphone branding. Check Ticket Rush out here (via RingNokia).
Want another free alternative to Nokia's free Smart2go? Although available unofficially for much of the world for a while now, it seems that Google has made support for Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom official for its Google Maps for Mobile Java app. If you've got a meaty data tariff or Wi-Fi, it features mapping, routing, satellite images and a business directory. And traffic info, though this wouldn't work for me. See also their YouTube slideshow.
Have you got the creative bug? Then you'll be glad to know that Hackday Europe is coming. Yahoo will be taking over Alexandra Plaxce in London and opening the doors for hackers, programmers, designers, developers engineers and other interested people to come along and 'do stuff.' Results from the first event in Sunnyvale, CA, resulted in such wonderful delights as the FlickrHandbag and the YBox. More information and forms to request an invite are at Hackday.

The BBC News website is running a story about the mobile version of Ubuntu, the popular distribution of the Linux operating system. There's no information on which handsets it would actually run on, if any, and no manufacturers are mentioned. However, Ubuntu for mobiles is apparently due for a first release in October 2007. The BBC has used a stock image of the E61i, but this doesn't appear to have any connection to the story itself.
AAS friend Darla has been taking her first steps with Nokia's new 3G clamshell for the USA market - here's her initial verdict on the N75. Pity there's no actual 3G signal in her area though...
If it's Friday, it must be 3-Lib plug day 8-) Just a pointer that I've added three devices to the S60 History page, bringing it right up to date. Still a few blanks to fill in though - comment if you can help...
The much-delayed 3G Nseries clamshell, the Nokia N75, reportedly, is now going on sale in the USA, for the price of $200 (with a two year agreement and with a $50 mail in rebate).
