Ah, so it's not just me. Despite the Nokia E90 not being officially available in the USA yet, the Center for Citizen Media also seems to recognise the potential for journalists and content creators in the E90, with the CCM citing the Communicator's "enormous potential in journalism".
OK, so it was only of fringe interest to S60 and UIQ users, but in the latest U-turn in a long series of stumbles and blind alleys, it seems Palm has canned its 'smartphone companion' completely, citing a desire to keep everything focussed within a single software platform. Er... which platform would that be, exactly? (via MobHappy)
Symbian has finalised its agenda and show layout for its annual Smartphone Show in London, on 16-17th October at the ExCeL centre. Listed below are some of the last minute speaker sign ups and some thumbnails, plus links. The show is free to attend, as is the AAS pub meet on the evening of the 15th, details to be announced, but the prize list is pretty impressive....(!) Oh, and keep the evening of the 16th free as well - watch this space.
Carnival Of The Mobilists 89 is now available to read over at WAP Review. This week the topics raised in these choice links include Nokia's recent announcements about Ovi and N-Gage, as well as more stuff about the iPhone and an assortment of articles about business and society. And... I'm very glad to say... several dozen rubber ducks.
Stefan Constantinescu (as Rafe and I discovered) is not only a young guy with enough life force to power a submarine, he's also very insightful - here's a great post by him on why Ovi is 'the next page in the Nokia story', a story that goes back around 140 years.
Fring, the free VoIP and ICQ/Skype/etc chat client, is now available for the Nokia E90, albeit that it doesn't support the E90's loudspeaker yet. (via My-Symbian forum)
It seems as though the USA version of the N95 8GB is going to be launched and demoed at the end of September. The Consumed by S60 blog has details of a special 'party' in the LA area, while Engadget Mobile has been showing off an actual USA spec (850/1900 MHz) model.
It's here folks. The much anticipated CorePlayer Mobile for Symbian is just released a few minutes ago for S60, S60 3rd Edition, UIQ and UIQ 3. It supports the latest Audio and Video formats such as MP3, AAC, MKA, WMA, WAV, OGG and also H.264 (AVC), MKV, MPEG-1, MPEG-4 part 2 (ASP), DivX, XviD, etc. Full press release after the break!
emoze, purveyor of a free push email client, has announced that GMail is now supported, meaning that you don't have to be running Microsoft Exchange (or similar) on your main PC to take advantage of 'push'. emoze isn't Java, either, being available in native S60 form. Here's the download page.
If you want to watch the goings on in London on the Web, here's the direct streaming feed. Update: The link now shows the footage from the Go Play event.
