Sneaking out in an email newsletter is the news that Nokia are planning to release a third 'demo' of an MMC Game. This time round, it's Colin McRae Rally 2005 getting the treatment. Watch this page over the holidays for the file. In the meantime, you can check out our review of this tour de force on the N-Gage.
With registration open until the end of January, Pocket Kingdom's first global prize winning competition is getting underway. Get practicing for the Qualifier month, because at the end of that, the top 20 players from the three world regions go forward to spend a month attempting to be "the best of the best."
And we thought the Holy Grail was hard to find. Christopher has managed to anger a few gods and tracked down a retail copy of Sega Rally for the N-Gage. It turns out the Chase was better than the game, as he tells us just how bad a game can be in his review. Colin McRae Rally (reviewed yesterday) is far superior in almost every respect.
Congrats to IGN for this little scoop. Ideaworks (of Colin McRae and Tony Hawk fame) are working on a futuristic racing game influenced by Tron and the classic Atari S.T.U.N. runner. Read the lowdown on this hack into a computer and race around a bit acid trip MMC fest while we go off and find out where our invitation is.
It's good to see new N-Gage sites on the web, and Paul Drummond has just launched his N-Gage blog. Promising "news, views and general rants about the superb Nokia N-Gage QD gamedeck," pop on over and leave him an encouraging comment!
For those of you a bit overwhelmed with Pocket Kingdom, All ABout N-Gage would like to point you over to the Warcry Pocket Kingdom pages. As well as an FAQ and a guide to all the units and items, there's a great Getting Started guide for the new PK player
While the All About Symbian Pub Meet is a distant memory, Herbert went along to a meeting organised by PDATotaal over in Amsterdam and got his hands on a Nokia 7710 for most of the meeting. Here's how he got on...
Word from inside Nokia reaches us that the push to make sure Pathway to Glory and Pocket Kingdom would be out for the Christmas has caused Snakes to be delayed till January. All round it's a good decision for the N-Gage Family because sales this Christmas are going to be important.
Having a kick-ass review means we usually get linkage from a lot of strange places, and it's fun to watch them come in. Yesterday, there was a big spike from a new site. So a big american hi there to everyone coming from Penny Arcade to read Pathway to Glory thoughts. We've more exclusive stuff coming up in the next week, but to answer the one point raised by Tycho, yes, we think Nokia are finally working out the strengths of the system and releasing kick ass games.
A few N-Gage fans have set up an IRC channel purely for the N-Gage. Based at irc.gamesurge.net, you want to log into the #n-gage channel. If you're on a PC, we'd recommend using Hydra IRC Client, or you could try connecting directly from your N-Gage using Wireless IRC.
Activision's World War Two action fest, Call of Duty heads out from Finland to distributors and retaillers today. It's no Pathway to Glory strategy, it's all first person action. We'll have a review once we get a hold of the final retail build.
Back in October, Nokia announced a new area for the Finnish company. Preminet would be a software store retailer, that would work with the carriers and developers, providing over the air download services for handset owners. With strong online competition from Handango and Symbian Gear, All About Symbian were interested in what Nokia could bring to the table. We sat down with Steen Thygesen, from Forum Nokia, to talk about this new venture.
