Sneaking out in an email newsletter is the news that Nokia are planning to release a third 'demo' of an MMC Game. This time round, it's Colin McRae Rally 2005 getting the treatment. Watch this page over the holidays for the file. In the meantime, you can check out our review of this tour de force on the N-Gage.
With registration open until the end of January, Pocket Kingdom's first global prize winning competition is getting underway. Get practicing for the Qualifier month, because at the end of that, the top 20 players from the three world regions go forward to spend a month attempting to be "the best of the best."
If you build a games machine, then getting the games into the hands of the users is one of your prime concerns. Crack this and your market is assured. Ewan reckons this is one of the weak points of the whole N-Gage Business model, and here he argues that the competition have some much better ideas. As we continue our N-Gage Christmas Discussion, it's time to talk about how we should buy the games.
As the first part of our N-Gage Christmas, Chris Rydberg takes a look into his crystal ball (and his copy of photoshop) to speculate about the next version of the N-Gage and what it should be capable of. Find out if you agree with him, as he takes a look at the Zen-Gage.
It's that time of year again, where Rafe and I see what goodies we have in the competition cupboard. This year it's pretty spectactular. Not only can you win an unlocked N-Gage QD, along with seven of the latest MMC Games (including Asphalt: Urban GT and Colin McRae Rally 2005, but we've got hooded tops, tshirts and blank MMC cards as well. You can find out how to enter on An N-Gage Christmas Homepage. Thanks to Allack, N-Gage User and Nokia for their support.
Well, you can if you ask nicely. Nokia announced today that the Arena system is open to Operators and Retailers to create a branded competition in the Arena. Starting of is Finnish network DNA, who will be running a Colin McRae 2005 tournament for the Finns. As long as the Arena never looses the overall global competitions, then we think this is a great idea. Now if only we can have an "All About Tony Hawk" competition for our readers...
British institution Basil Brush arrives on your mobile phone, courtesy of Cascata Games. In Quest For The Stolen Jokebook, you have to help the dapper fox travel through time and rescue the stolen pages, with your trusty water pistol to help you through the arcade levels.
And we thought the Holy Grail was hard to find. Christopher has managed to anger a few gods and tracked down a retail copy of Sega Rally for the N-Gage. It turns out the Chase was better than the game, as he tells us just how bad a game can be in his review. Colin McRae Rally (reviewed yesterday) is far superior in almost every respect.
Colin McRae is probably the best known Rally driver in the world, mainly because of the incredibly realistic and playable rally driving games he has his name on. Can the N-Gage version stand up to the console counterparts? In short, yes. Read our Review to find out why.
Congrats to IGN for this little scoop. Ideaworks (of Colin McRae and Tony Hawk fame) are working on a futuristic racing game influenced by Tron and the classic Atari S.T.U.N. runner. Read the lowdown on this hack into a computer and race around a bit acid trip MMC fest while we go off and find out where our invitation is.
We've already brought you rear-talking, but now MashMods are selling a conversion kit to give your N-Gage Classic a Hot Swappable MMC. It adds an MMC Holder to the rear of your case, and a fly cable inside going into the original MMC holder. Hopefully we'll have a kit to review in the near future.
It's good to see new N-Gage sites on the web, and Paul Drummond has just launched his N-Gage blog. Promising "news, views and general rants about the superb Nokia N-Gage QD gamedeck," pop on over and leave him an encouraging comment!
