I will be the first then! 5800...WOW

Hi

I was initially waiting for the N96 but that appears to have been in vane because it is pants according to the reviews that i have read and the demo that I had in the CPW showed it was slow in the menus and cheap looking.

Anyway that's enough about the N96, what about the 5800 XpressMusic? It looks divine! Will it be an iPhone killer? I surely hope it's worth waiting for because from the reviews to date and the images I have seen online, it should be a good bit of kit.

I wonder what UK networks will adopt it? I wouldn't mind defecting from Orange to 3, if they decide to stock it. Their data tariff is more generous, as are the price plans.

If anyone learns when it will be available on a UK network, whack the info on here.

Cheers,
valerebel

Personally im hoping they announce a new flagship nseries v5 device pretty soon.

If they would release an N96/85/E Series style device with

Touch UI
5MP camera (With Lens Cover)
USB Charging (with port at the bottom why they made the top decision is pure moronic and typical of the Nokia Idiocy ive come to expect)
Decent Amount of Ram without sacrificing half the internal storage memory.

This would go half way to making a worthy n95 replacement and as long as they don't repeat the same mistakes or end up loading it with a hideously poor battery and other "why nokia why" mistakes it will be a very decent handset.

Niceities (although not essential) would be

GPS Reciever in a sensible place ( not repeating the N95 mistakes )
OLED screen ( although if that will work with the resistive touch screen / cost im not sure )
FM Transmitter
DVB Reciever (although it is rather useless in the uk at the moment).
Xeon Flash

Lens cover!

Usually I shy away from touch devices, but with the methods of input offered, I am probably going to try one.

Providing the full qwerty keyboard is decent then ill be happy. If it sucks then I will be most dissapointed. I miss the full keyboard from my last windows phone more than I ever did the touchscreen. If Nokia pull it odd and it works well with the touch then it could bode well for the future.

I can live with 3.2 cam, but not if they dont sort out the noise problem in low light.

My E66 has it, and my brief ownership of a N85 had the same thing, and thats got dual LED. However, the noise was even worse than the N95 classic.

I wont be getting another till they sort it out, hopefully via a firmware update.

I reckon the N series touchscreens will be rather expensive tbh.

Although OLED would be worth it, since the power savings by that size a screen would be huge.

Yeah the trouble is with Nokia is when they find a way of reducing battery drain they tend to annex life to make is a bit smaller.

Im not sure why they get the impression that everyone only wants their battery to last a day. I think OLED plus a touchscreen is a step to far for this year. They need something to put into the N97
