Living abroad, one use I've found for it is for language learning. I can use the dictaphone to record a person saying a few phrases I want to learn and then use the active notes to write down the translations/comments etc and embed the sound file in the notes. Very handy!!!

Can you clarify...

Hi Steve, nice article, cheers. I am confused on one point though, can you please clarify these seemingly contradictory statements:

"One thing to be aware of is that the embedding (inserting) process actually creates a copy of the relevant object (e.g. a photo or video) and stores it in a named folder associated with the current Active note.... "

"You've also got to watch out not to delete the original content (images/referenced documents), as it's these that are used by Active Notes itself, separate from the mirroring of content into the associated sub-folder - deleting or archiving the external content will cause broken icons within your Active Notes document."

Are you saying that even though Active Notes creates a copy of the objects you are imbedding, it still causes broken icnons if you delete the ORIGINAL object? This is indeed crazy behaviour if I've understood you correctly!

Now wouldn't this be nice on the n95, with that 5-megapixel camera... Great way to organise holiday photos!

Nice app. shame about lack of hardware to run it on in UK

I presume you need a decent speed processor to run this hence not available to run on e61i. Shame as I have run similar prog on computers and they are useful.

(I was interested in e90 but seems they are as rare as hen's teeth in UK. Only vodafone shop I could find in neighbourhood last week who would be stocking had none, might be expecting some sometime in the future that I could pre-order sight unseen etc. Other vodafone shops in surrounding towns etc said it was too specialised for them to stock. O2 still has it as coming soon due August 2007, others eg www.mobiles.co.uk say discontinued for O2.)

Deleting original files and formating text

Comment: Deleting original files from their original locations (i.e. not inside Active notes folder) does NOT remove the files inside Active notes folder. You should try again this feature Only if you remove the Active note's own copies of the objects, does the objects become broken.

Hint: Another things, formating text is possible in Active notes application. When you paint some text and select Options, the first item on Options list is Text. When you select Text, you get all possible formating options, i.e. italics, bold, underline and color. Quite handy, I think!

This is cute - - but utterly useless if you can't sync this back to a PC or laptop. Been down this road before. Nokia needs to get off the couch and improve its integration with the PC. We cant even sync Outlook categories let alone this stuff...

Lightbulb Synchronization facility ?

Is there a way to change the destination folder of activesnotes ?
It will be more convenient to choose where activesnotes store files. A good place will be the synchronization folder of pcsuite. Don’t you think so?
