Smart2Go (Nokia Maps) beta nearly over
Smart2Go, in beta for months, is finally about to go 'final', or as final as a version 1.0 can be. Note that it's NOT available yet - we'll shout when it is, in a few days. Listed below the break are most of the improvements, applicable to both the generic version and the 'Nokia Maps' brand within the N95 and E90. Lots that's new and AAS has got hold of an early copy. Rafe and I will be posting screenshots later today.
Read on in the full article.

Drive carefully enough to avoid being caught by speed cameras (or fast enough ).

Boo! E70 no longer supported
I've just tried to install the new release, and it says "Installation of Nokia_Maps.sis" not supported. The beta works fine for me (although it's not speedy). I was trying to install the N70 version; anyone succeed in installing the new version on their E-series device?
Also, it would be nice if the Map Loader continued if a media card wasn't present. I wanted to load the India maps, for a trip to Bangalore, but after going to the trouble of ejecting my card, I discovered they're not available.
Another comment. There's only a single "Delete maps from device" button. Can't we delete just one or two countries? I don't want to have to re-download them all again. Has anyone written a Perl script or other utility to this? It seems like a major omission.

I should have added, I was trying to install the N70 version on an E70 device (since E70 wasn't in the supported list). When are Nokia going to support E-series devices?

Wow, a fantastic list of improvements! Mapping is my favorite app right now. Need to buy a GPS module now for sure.

First errors
Hello,
I've just installed it and it seems that it doesn't show street and city names with unicode characters - this worked well in beta version. Now map data looks very weird in e.g. Poland.

Hi Rafe,
okay. Even more confusing my 'NOKIA_Maps_1_0_S60_update.SIS' from www,smart2go.com with 2,66 MB for the N95 also shows version
'v1.1wk23 b04'
as the one in your screenshot. But I will be glad if there is an even newer version
Regards,
PM

I also got the v1.1, as in the screenshot, for my N73 from nokia.com/maps while smart2go.com didn't even list my phone.

installed over v3.0 without any problem.
obviously this is the latest pre-llaunch version of Nokia Maps.
as rafe mentioned, this is faster than the nokia map that came installed on n95.

soft keys
It's faster, but I can't seem to clear the data bar at the bottom to find my GPS position button which used to be the right soft key on the N95...
