Gismeteo weather app gains new widgets

Published by at

Just over a year ago, we had the debut release of the Gismeteo weather application for Symbian. This is a comprehensive weather forecasting system based in Russia and is cross-platform. I doubt that Symbian has been top of Gismeteo's priority list and as a result it has taken over 12 months to produce an update, here adding three pretty 'weather now' widgets for Symbian Belle smartphone homescreens, plus the obligatory bug fixes...

Here's the launch story from a year ago. Although the full application (which you can tap through to) offers a full seven day forecast, the three new widgets concentrate unashamedly on the weather 'now', offering three different sizes to suit all homescreens:

Very pretty, but I'd have liked to have seen one widget with an actual multi-day forecast... (right) Happily, you can get this by tapping through - the days are on a scrolling carousel that spans a week(!)

When placing each widget, you have to choose a city to cover - you can have more than one widget per homescreen though, so good to have a set of world weather icons, if you're that way inclined? (right) flexibility in terms of units used....

You can download Gismeteo for free here in the Nokia Store.
