Nokia 808 PureView shoots second place photo in international contest

One acid test of how good a phone camera is, is when shots taken with it are taken seriously alongside those from DSLRs. In this case a Nokia 808 PureView-shot watery image which placed second in the Wiki Loves Public Art international photo contest. The winning image is reproduced below.

The Wiki Loves Public Art is a new contest, details here. In its 2013 competition, here's the Nokia 808-shot image which placed second:

2nd Placed image

If you want to try grabbing the full 12MP version, it's here. Quite how 'Kartanofoto' got to 12 megapixels isn't clear, since this isn't a native Nokia 808 resolution. Either he'd applied the mod mentioned yesterday or he shot in full 'Creative' resolution and then downsampled in Photoshop. Curious, but there's no denying the richness of the image.

Of this photo, the contest judges said:

We awarded the second prize to Kartanofoto’s images of Emil Wikström’s fountain Aino, in Lahti, Finland. Comment from the jury: Vivid and vibrant photo, nice dominance of green color (background, reflections in the water, statues).

Comments welcome. Reckon it's time for an AAS-hosted Nokia 808 photo competition?
