fring video calls now working on Nokia Belle devices and beyond

File this one under 'catching up', but it's worth recording on AAS that 'fring', the popular video/audio VoIP and chat client for Symbian, is now available again for Symbian Nokia Belle devices, so you can be video calling round the world for free as you used to under Symbian^3 and S60 5th Edition. Moreover, v4.5.18 also works on Belle FP1 devices, so they shouldn't feel left out of the video calling extravaganza. In addition to its own calling contacts and social system, fring also works with Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, AIM and ICQ, plus generic SIP.

There's no Skype compatibility, of course, after this service famously brought down the shutters on third party access to its servers. However, fring is still the only free video-calling solution on Symbian and cross-platform to boot. In short, there are still many reasons to have this installed.

You can grab fring at the Nokia Store for free - if you have a Belle FP1 device like the Nokia 808 PureView and don't see it listed, then just download and install it directly from fring3_118901.sisx.

Here are a few shots of fring v4.5.18 in action on the Nokia E7 running Belle Refresh:
