For those like me who waited for an official Nokia Weather widget for so long, even a small update has to be leapt upon. In this case an unheralded version bump to v18.9, merely stated as bringing "night icons" to the table. Useful if you're looking up a forecast when the rest of the town is sleeping and somewhat atmospheric? Some screens, links and comments below.
The new version can be grabbed from the Weather Widget download page (note that you'll need to sign in to Beta Labs as usual) and, as before, it works best when used with Maps Suite 2.0 also installed, as it means you can then tap through to full-screen forecasts.
You'll also need to restart the phone at some point after installation, to make sure the new widgets are picked up by the OS.
The Nokia Weather widget displays the current weather and forecast in your current location or any other selected city in the world. This package contains two versions of the widget – Weather now and Weather forecast. Weather now displays only the current weather information, Weather forecast displays also a two day forecast.
Interestingly, you can apparently add as many widget instances as you like to homepages, in order to see the weather for many locations at once - very cool.
This 'night icons' update also contained a bug fix to get data on the default APN in certain networks, notably TIM Italy and O2 Germany.
