To celebrate their one millionth download Picsel, for this weekend only, are offering their Smart Office app at a discounted price of just £1 (€1 / $1). Smart Office allows you to view, create, edit and share Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); it also includes a viewing capabilities for PDF documents, image files and plain text files.. 

In our recent review David noted that Smartoffice, in its current version, does not quite match Quickoffice Pro in terms of feature count, especially for editing functionality. However £1 is something of a bargain, especially for those devices which do not ship with the Pro version of Quickoffice.

David was also particularly impressed by the PDF viewing functionality:

The PDF viewer is really the best part of Smart Office. Its rendering is the fastest I’ve seen on Symbian – even outclassing Quickoffice’s PDF viewer. Where the PDF viewer falls down is on documents with several hundred pages, as it tries to load the whole file into RAM at once, rather than loading the next few pages from where you’re currently reading. However, single page documents which are highly complex (e.g. a city-wide bus map) loaded surprisingly quickly.

That might make Smart Office a worthy purchase for the PDF functionality alone.
