Nokia Battery Monitor hits v3

Published by at

Nokia Battery Monitor has, with the Belle update, become perhaps the most obvious way of working out exactly how much charge remains in your smartphone's battery. Along with estimates of remaining use time, stats on usage, and, with this new version 3, data feedback to Nokia and Facebook sharing. Yes, really.

You can find Nokia Battery Monitor here on the Nokia Store, it's a free download.

New for v3 is this startup splash screen; the homescreen widget also sees cosmetic changes (was it transparent before?)

The core reporting screens haven't changed much. From left to right, estimates of how long you can do each activity for on the current battery charge (the main % figure seems quite accurate, though it's relative to remaining battery capacity, of course); statistics on the main applications used today, on average and this week; and tweaking of some of your phone's power saving functions (the tips panels give you good tips on the rest).

New for v3 are two forms of reporting: general stats on use to Nokia (with appropriate privacy disclaimer); and sharing of your stats with your Facebook friends*.

Again, download Nokia Battery Monitor here.

Personally, I despise these auto-Facebook functions in any application - I want my Facebook friend updates to be items that people have typed in, not regular insertions by some 'bot. Is it just me? Comments welcome, including whether you're happy with the Nokia feedback uploads.
