Ok guys. I'm a bit excited!!!

It looks like Duo Pro support to me on that one pic! And I've heard that the keyboard will be available for the P900 as well!!!

Thanks to Howardforums where I found these pics!

Did some quick gimp image enhancements.

What is quickshare? It's promently featured at the front base of the unit.

Also re your MS Duo Pro idea, Maybe the text is too hard to pick out, the unit's port slot simply say MS Duo tho.

I Would hop duo pro is supported. I'm also holding out that it's wifi enabled but I doubt it. As the first wifi handset i've seen was a prototype at a tokoyo trade fair. And they hadn't even decided if it was going to be running linux or CE.

BTW. July 15th is SE's big product unvieling date. So hopefully they will reveal more then.

I thought the first picture (the jpg thumbnail) showed a MS Duo pro! But looking at it again, I could be mistaking.

It might be a "small" upgrade, but if I can upgrade my P900 reasonable cheap, I'm happy 😊

We should be waiting for an official press release from SE. None of this is confirmed. Although flattering I hope this isn't just a window dressing for the P900. I'm ready for something bigger then just intergrated keyboard..

Thank God for Mobile Theater... What's on your Mobile Phone? 😃

of course this layla isn't confirmed until the official press release. but what's official is that SE is going to release a press release on thursday, and since there's a high probability that it includes this layla, there is a high probability this layla is official 😉

cheers,

Ok. mobile-review.com says they're gonna have a review of the P910 up at 10am. Now, I don't know what time-zone, but if it is the Russian time-zone it should be on their site any minute....

Well, I don't think I'll be buying that. From what I can make out (my Russian isn't great - okay, it's non-existent) you get a completely useless new flip (I have hands the size of coal shovels. I can't even use the keypad on the Treo 600!) and it's a slightly different colour. Whoopee do.

Yeah, saw that afterwards (doh). 64MB RAM is good, 265K screen is fairly unimportant though it's good that it's a bit brighter without, apparantly, effecting the battery life. The main thing is the use of MSD's up to 1GB. That's a huge improvement and, for some, I'm sure worth the upgrade. But, as the review makes clear, it isn't designed to encourage people to upgrade, it's designed as a stop-gap measure to keep them ahead of the game whilst they work on the real follow-up device. Hence there is nothing really mind-blowing.

Presumably, the new version (P1000 or whatever) will get the megapixel camera, wi-fi and UIQ 3.

I Wonder how much a 1GB MSD will cost, given the launch price of 128MB! They could actually cost more then the phone itself

:? No 1.3MP cam??? I know that SE are just trying to make sure that people upgrade to the P1000 but the VGA cam really lets this phone down.

I don't see why the absence of a mega-pixel camera is letting the phone down? Firstly, there are very few phones on the market (outside Japan) with mega-pixel camera's and, to my knowledge, no smartphones. Secondly, the P910 is being squarely aimed at the mobile business user (as stated in the press release accompanying the announcement) to whom the quality of the camera is wholly irrelevant.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a nice-to-have. But I certainly don't think it "really lets this phone down".

What I don't get is why it won't be released until september? I mean, this device is virtually identical, why couldn't they ship right away? And how about an upgrade for p900 users. any word about that?

64MB RAM is good

The 64MB is storage memory not RAM.The p910 has 32MB of RAM,21MB available after bootup.

Well the camera must be important or it wouldn't have been included. In my opinion business users want the best of everything, by October or November their going to be wondering why Sony's flagship is stuck with a VGA camera. I don't know many business people who have a P900, the people I know with it are all gadget and technology addicts which must make up a large part of the ownership base and surely they would want a 1MP cam?

The reason why this phone doesn't have the 1MP cam in my opinion is that when Sony release the P1000 next year they want to give people a real reason to upgrade not that it's target audience aren't currently interested in 1MP cams.

Surely "gadget and technology addicts" would already have multiple mega-pixel camera's. Why would they want another, sub-standard one on their phone?

Absolutely agree with you 100%. But I think the reason they felt they could leave it out until the next version is because the majority of people view a slightly better camera on their phone as a nice-to-have, but my no means essential.

I just can't think of a single situation in which I might think to myself "I wish I had a slightly better than VGA, but not as good as my 5MP camera with me".

It seems that the p910 does support html e-mails.

* HTML support
* Possibility to create local folders
* Possibility to create imap server folders
* Mark as read/ mark all as read function
* Local delete of emails
* Possibility to view emails in full screen (not sure that's new)

Full screen is new. Where did you find the bit on being able to create IMAP folders? I've spoken to people who've used the device quite extensively but weren't able to find that option (doesn't mean it wasn't there, of course).

Wrt to the camera, 1mp is soon to be (if not already) 'industry standard'. SE's flagship is sub standard in this area.

Still falls short of the iMate in the windows network environment category too.

vpn? nup
terminal services? nup
exchange client? nup

Bring on the P1000 I reckon.

I think there are both VPN and Terminal Services clients.MovianVPN and...don't know the name of the other. If by exchange you mean access to Microsoft Exchange server there are several solution for that too.One of them is OpenHand e-mail.

I read on a few places (including threegmobile.net) that the screen resolution is now 240x320 (instead of the P900s 208x320) while the physical size of the screen has remained the same.

Now does anyone if this is true (which it probably is). And if so, how on earth is it (technologically) possible to enhance the resolution without keeping the same dimensions (if you get what I mean)?

Don't know if it's true, but in order to do it all you have to do is either reduce the size of each of the pixels or to place them closer together (or, more likely, both) giving you a higher "dpi" (dots per square-inch) figure.

Ok, thanx for the info. I thought it would be physically impossible, but I guess not 😃 It would be nice though! 240x320 is a bit more of a standard size (for pics, movies etc.)
