Why is the size of the firmware update different?

Q. Why is the size of the firmware update through the phone itself (Over The Air) around a few MB (at most), while Ovi Suite says the update is well over 100MB?
A. Ovi Suite is downloading (and applying) the entire firmware image (i.e. the whole OS), while the on-device software (powered by Red Bend) is clever enough to insert just the 'blocks' that have changed into the firmware already stored in the phone.

Thats what winrar does, they compress files to save space, meaning its faster to download a 400MB file then a 1.3gb file right? so it saves alot of time. its perfectly normal that they get bigger when u extract them, its the point of the program.
hi.. I had immense problems with the updates via ovi so far.. first of all it never worked without any problems.. and it is slow like hell!!!! I had to wait almost a full hour for the last update.. and it wasn't even half as big.. that wasn't funny anymore..

Q. Help! I've bought a Nokia N96 and, after inserting my memory card, Music player's now giving me 'System error' when I try and refresh my music library. My card has all sorts of useful files on it, can I solve the problem without formatting it?
