Why does Tasks crash, with 'Reason code Agenda Model, Reason number 9’?

Q. Tasks has stopped working on my P900, refusing to start up with an error ‘Reason code Agenda Model, Reason number 9’. I’ve tried restarting the phone, to no avail. I even tried restoring from a backup, but that didn’t work either.

A. We’ve seen this before, it’s a result of your main ‘C:\Documents\Agenda\Agenda’ file getting corrupted. You’ll need to look back and restore your P900 to a point before the corruption occurred. If you’ve made lots of changes to the rest of your device’s memory, which you’d rather not lose, you can always restore just this one individual file, copying it onto your P900 and then pasting it into place using SMan (or similar).

If the error recurs, then there’s obviously something in this database that Calendar has taken exception to, triggering a bug. If you sync to Outlook then you could try deleting unusual entries in both Calendar and Tasks that you suspect might be troublesome. Then sync and try Tasks again. If Tasks persists in playing up, you have two options. The quickest is to install the third party application AquaCalendar, which also lets you work with tasks from the same database. However, this isn’t the simplest program to use and, like Outlook, ignores your existing task categories. You may find that giving up on Tasks altogether gives you the most peace of mind. Why not keep your to-do list items in named Jotter entries instead? Create a category called ‘Todo’ and then have one entry for each project/to-do list?
