Theme keeps getting reset

Published by Steve Litchfield at 7:19 UTC, July 8th

Q. My smartphone theme keeps getting reset when I take my memory card out in order to fill it in my memory card reader. How can I stop this happening?

A. I suspect you've installed the theme on the card in the first place, rather than on your internal disk ('Phone'). Although installing on card is recommended for major applications, anything small like a theme or utility should usually go in the internal disk. Theme files are held open and accessed often while the theme is in use and in this case the OS spots the removal of its files and pulls the plug on the theme.

Simply re-install the theme, choosing 'Phone' as the installation disk.

Comment: I've got a better response to this inquiry... Simply turn your phone off before you remove your memory card, and don't turn it back on again until the memory card is back in place.

When you do this, your phone never knows that your card is gone along with the rest of the files required for whatever settings are reset. (Some use it for the themes, others for message storing in email and texts.)
