Author's Description
Office2Go enables users to access their home or office PC from a mobile phone, smartphone or PDA anytime, anywhere. It gives users the possibility to have instant e-mail- and calendar access and have also real-time access to files while on the road. Office2Go is available as a downloadable version and needs to be installed on the Home or Office PC. Office2Go’s main purpose
With Office2Go it is possible to have realtime and wireless access *) to your Home or Office PC. Office2Go operates with a mobile phone, smartphone or PDA (also BlackBerry) You don’t need to have settings on your mobile device. You can use your own e-mail adress. Check your e-mail including attachments where ever you are. You can also reply, forward, delete and file your e-mails while on the move. Check your calendar and add new appointments. Have access to your files at your Office or Home PC. Look in to Word, Powerpoint and Excel files (on a Smartphone or PDA these files are downloadable on the device if a viewer is installed)
*) You need a data-subscription like GPRS, UMTS, EDGE, i-mode or Vodafone Live.
What do I need to use Office2Go?
1) A PC with a fixed fixed internet connection such as (A)DSL, cable or a LAN that has to be always on. An option is to have a faxmodem when you want to use the "remote fax" option. MS Outlook version 98, 2000, 2003 or XP or Outlook Express. The PC has to be running Windows 95/ 98/ 2000, XP NT of Millennium. Also see system requirements.
2) A mobile phone, Smartphone or PDA with a data subscriptions like GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, i-mode, Vodafone Live, Orange World or T-Mobile T-Zones. This is the way to have fast access to the mobile internet. Every modern device with a color screen has the possibility of using data.
UMTS is rather new to the market place. There are a few UMTS enabled devices at this moment. The big advantage of UMTS is the speed of the data connection. A good alternative is EDGE. Almost a hundred operators around the world make use of EDGE-network. It is almost as fast as UMTS, but a lot cheaper to use.
