Author's Description

InTune
is a musical instrument tuner developed for Symbian-based smart phone that use the build-in microphone to tune musical instruments. Its unique graphical interface provides a simple way to help the user to tune the musical instrument to the correct pitch. The tuning is based on the 442 Hz as reference A.

Current build will support phone based on Symbian OS v6.1 and v7.0s respectively.

User instructions
Press "Option>Start" after launching InTune. Place the phone about 20 cm to 1 metre away from the instrument to tune. InTune records and analyse the musical tone of the instrument played and displays the nearest musical note on the bottom of the screen with the deviation of the tone from the note.

Tone that is within 0.10 (10%) of the correct frequency is shown as the middle green bar, while lower and higher tone will be displayed as red bar on the left and right respectively. The further the deviation of the tone from the musical note, the further is the red bar from the centre. The frequency of the tone and the strength (loudness) is shown on the top screen. Normally, a strength of above 4000 provides the optimum input and therefore greatest accuracy.

InTune will be disabled when an incoming call is picked up, or the user has switch to another application. To reactivate, press the "Start" button again.
