Author's Description
BlackJack is an easy game to learn.
The objective is to beat the dealer by having a total that exceeds the dealer total and still below (or equal to) 21.
If the dealer total exceeds 21 and your total doesn't exceed 21 then you win. Exceeding a total of 21 is known as 'busting'.
The casino's edge stems from the fact that players must go first and when they bust they automatically lose (even if the
dealer has subsequently busted). All cards count their face value in BlackJack. Picture cards count as 10 and the Ace card
can count as either 1 or 11. The total value a player has is the sum of the card values he holds.
After the player looks at the
first initial two cards and see the value of one of the dealer's two cards, the player must choose one of the following actions:
Hit, which means you want the dealer to give you one more card.
Stand, which means that you are satisfied with your cards and you don't want more cards.
Split, which means that you want to split your bet into two bets. If you have two identical cards (except two Aces), you can split your bet. When you split you find your self with two separated series of cards which mean two separated bets.
Double, which means you want to double your bet and receive only one more card.
Insur, which means that you want to make an additional bet on half of the money you chose to bet on. The additional bet means that you win if the dealer has a blackjack, which means that you don't lose anything.
