UK Network "3" (a 3G network, offering, amongst other phones, the Symbian OS powered Motorola A920) has decided it's controversiall "walled garden" approach of deciding what can be downloaded will remain (reports New Media Zero). "Anyone in their right mind who tries to do anything on the Internet with a screen that size has to be nuts" says Gareth Jones, CEO. Perhaps he hasn't seen Opera's small screen rendering in action on the A925?

Over at The Register, Colly Myers speaks very candidly. Right from the start, he pitches the idea that an all-in-one device might not be the nirivana everyone expeects. "You end up with a 'spork' - a combination of a spoon and a fork. It's no good as a spoon and no good as a fork."
Canalys have published the latest marketsare figures from the EMEA mobile device market. In it the figures show 94% marketshare for Symbian OS. Nokia have sold 1,351,400 units, Sony Ericsson 149,500 and Siemens 61,490. Nokia currently represents 85% of all Symbian devices sold.
It's a tough world out there for mobile phone users, carriers, handset vendors and OS (writes John Lettice at The Register). Lettice has a very lengthy piece on Digital Rights Management, looking at the OMA spec that is carried by Symbian.
