Summary:
Photos of Samsung S60 phones announced at the Symbian Smartphone Show 2007. These included the GPS equipped SGH-i550 and the music focused SGH-i450. The i450 features a unique touch sensitive scroll wheel, while the i550 has a trackball instead of a D-pad.

128 MB RAM
All of these phones seem to be quite healthy from the RAM point of view. I'll try and get confirmation on this.
-
Keypad on i550
I think the keypad is going to be like marmite - people will either love it or hate it. Personally i found it responsive with good tactile feedback. The control keys were a bit fiddly though. The scroll ball is also likely to illicit mixed reactions - I certainly like it, but it is better suited to some applications (e.g. Web) than others (e.g. Gaming).
-
microUSB
The i450, i550 and i560 are connected to the PC via a microUSB port.

Navigaton route navigation
The i550 and i560 will ship with Navigon GPS navigation software. There will be a 30 day trial. At the end of the trial users can opt to buy the software for a country for 69 Euros or for the whole of Europe for 100 Euros.

i550 applications
Here's the tools menu of the i550. Note the support for Voice Signal (voice recognition) and GPS Data (the i550 and i560 have internal GPS').

-
microSD
Expandable memory is well catered for. The i450, i550, and i560 all support SDHC microSD card (capacities up to 8GB).

-
3.55 mm audio jack
Music lovers will be pleased to note the i450, i550 and i560 all 3.55mm audio jacks.

Touch wheel
The i450's touch wheel. It takes a few second to get use to, but once you do its a great way to navigate. It is true touch technology too, so you can use this even if you're wearing gloves (i.e. doesn't rely on heat or conductivity like iPods and other touch systems).
-
Control Keys
You can use the controls key to navigate the music UI as an alternative to the touch wheel.

-
i560 Keypad
Although it a flat style (made up on one piece of material) the keyboard is reasonable.
-
-
3rd Party applications
Quickoffice and Adobe PDF are present on the Samsung phones to.
-
Google
All the Samsung S60 phones feature a Google search box plug-in on the Active Idle screen.
-
VGA Camera
In common with other 3G phones the Samsung S60 phones have support for video calling via front facing VGA cameras.
-
Widgets on Samsung S60
This one is interesting... Web Runtime running on the i560. Does this suggest that Web Runtime may be available for S60 3.1 devices? Maybe Samsung will beat Nokia to the market with this S60 technology.
-
Widget Icons
The demo units on the S60 stand had the Reuters and Weatherbug Web Runtime Widgets installed.

N95 vs i550
These two phones are similarly specified (though the N95 camera is a lot better). The i550 looks like it will be up to 150 Euros cheaper though which should provide some formidable competition for the N95. The i550 is better suited to the business user in my opinion. The N95 is more generically targeted and is better for consumers. The i550 will also benefit from being and all one style. Although the N95 is smaller when closed the i550 is very notable lighter and thinner than the N95, but still manages to boast a similar sized screen.
