Nokia's first 8 megapixel cameraphone is the Nokia N86 8MP. But it's not the many pixels that makes this Nseries camera special it is the software and hardware optimisations. There's a variable aperture lens which should significantly improve pictures taken in low light conditions. There's a mechanical shutter and the usual Carl Zeiss optics.
N86 lit up The keys are better spaced that in previous Nseries devices, most notably in the control cluster.

N86 8MP screensaver The screen saver takes advantage of the properties of the AMOLED sceen.
N86 8MP keypad The keypad echoes the style of the N97. This is reflected across the whole on the N86 too and is very much deliberate. Each set of Nseries device has a design language and the N97 and N86 are the first entrants in the 2009 batch.
N86 8MP with the bottom slide open The N86 is another of Nokia's dual slider devices. The design has been refined over the years and the N86 is the latest evolution, but is unlikely to be the last.

N86 camera cover open The N86 has the same style camera cover as the N85 and N79, but has a more sophisticated camera module. For example it has a mechanical shutter.
N86 kickstand
N86 on kickstand The dimmed down AMOLED screen lets you see that the texture on the control cluster buttons are subtly different to previous devices.
N86's kickstand This lets you site the device on a flat surface for watching video. This was first seen a year ago on the N96 and is a welcome feature.

N85 8MP label The naming of the device probably changed quite late in the day (or it could be simple error). It certainly make sense having it as a separate model as the N86 and N85 have some major differences one of which, of course, is the camera.
