Summary:
The Nokia E55 is Nokia's thinnest ever Eseries device (9.9 mm), but still manages to pack in a lot of functionality. It has a 20 key - half QWERTY keyboard (two letters per key), a 3.2 megapixel camera, an integrated GPS (with compass) and a 1500 mAh battery. There's also tri-band 3G (HSDPA and HSUPA) and WiFi connectivity, 35 mm audio jack and ehanced messaging software.

Note the email shortcuts as well as other Ovi services and tools.

E55 keyboard
Nokia refer to this as the half-QWERTY keyboard. There are two letters on each key and the phone has predictive software to determine which letter is needed. It takes a bit of getting use, but once you have confidence in the the prediction text entry is fast for a keyboard of this size.

The built in accelerometer means the handset will automatically switch to landscape mode. It also has the flip to silent feature for calls and alarms.

The key of power and the 3.5 mm audio jack are found on the top of the device.

E55 in the hand
The shortcut keys are diamond cut.
-
E55 from the left
Camera capture and volume keys. The key between the volume keys does double duty - recording voice notes and as a mute button during calls.
-
E55 from the right
It is a remarkably thin device. Nokia set out to create a QWERTY devices that was even thinner than the E71 and this was the result.
-
E55 from the back
E55 from the back - the E55 uses aluminium which is lighter and also allows for extra colours.
-
BP-4L 1500 mAh battery
Its honestly difficult to see where there's room for the actual phone. The battery life of the E55 should be outstanding.

E55 key detail
You can see, in this shot, how the each key slopes from bottom to top (going up the keypad). This make it easier to type and improves accuracy.

E55 key detail
The centre two columns are slightly higher than the outer columns. This make it easier to type and improves accuracy.

Just checking the comments were working 8-) And to say that I simply have to try that keyboard - I'm either going to love it or hate it.... Hmm......

What's with the GMail Icon on the HomeScreen? I think that's new. Or did I miss something? Or didn't read up well enough?
