The Nokia 701 is the top model in Nokia's recently announced Symbian Belle smartphone range. It has the brightest screen of any Nokia smartphone and a similar outward appearance to the Nokia C7, but there are, as we'll see in our forthcoming review, a number of important differences. Steve's started our Nokia 701 coverage by posting some short tech pieces looking at the increased capacity battery and the improved EDoF camera. This gallery offers a visual overview of the device, ahead of our forthcoming review coverage.
The Nokia 700 is a mid tier Symbian Belle smartphone and is Nokia's smallest ever smartphone. It should appeal to those upgrading from older Symbian devices, or those looking to buy a smartphone for the first time. In many markets it is the first device to ship with Symbian Belle, the latest revision of the software platform. This gallery offers a visual overview of the device, ahead of our forthcoming review coverage.
Our original E6 gallery featured the white variant of Nokia's latest slab keyboard device, but this gallery features the black version, reckoned by many to be more usable because of the increased keyboard legend contrast in all light conditions. It's also, in my eyes, more beautiful! Note that this gallery has been shot entirely on the Nokia N8, an experiment in how Nokia's leading cameraphone can be used for detailed macro shots.
As a follow up to the popular E61, E71 and E72 range of devices, the E6 has been attracting a lot of attention from Nokia's QWERTY smartphone fans. Our review coverage will start in the next few days, but as a taster here is a gallery offering a visual tour of the Nokia E6's (E6-00) hardware. The E6, an enterprise focused device, combines touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard in a single form factor. Key features include a high resolution screen, eight megapixel EDoF camera and large 1500mAh replaceable battery.
As a taster for our in-depth Nokia X7 coverage, which will start on Monday, here is a gallery offering a visual tour of the Nokia X7 (X7-00) hardware. The X7, with its elegantly curved back, is a design led phone, with a combination of stainless steel and glass materials. Design aside, key features include the four inch AMOLED touchscreen, eight megapixel EDoF camera and comprehensive connectivity options. The Nokia X7 is also the first Symbian^3 phone to ship with the Symbian Anna software update.
In this gallery we take a closer visual look at the Nokia C7 (C7-00), one of three Symbian^3 phones that were announced at Nokia World 2010 last week. As usual, we show off some of the key hardware features of the phone and include some first impression commentary. The C7 marries sleek design and outstanding build quality with Nokia's new hardware platform and the powerful Symbian^3 software. We'll have more C7 coverage, including a first look preview, on the site in due course.
In this gallery we look at the Nokia E5 (E5-00), which is Nokia's new budget QWERTY slate smartphone. As usual, we show off some of the key hardware features of the phone and include some first impression commentary. In summary? The E5 has rock solid build quality and a good base specification, but there's an important screen caveat to note. All-in-all though, it is an attractive entry into the mid tier smartphone market.
The Nokia C6, which is part of Nokia's Cseries range, is a hybrid device, featuring both a QWERTY keyboard and a touchsceen, with a horizontal slider form factor. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera, integrated GPS and Ovi service bundle (Maps, Messaging, Store). At £250 it offers excellent value for money.
The Nokia N8 is Nokia's first Symbian^3 smartphone. It features a 12 megapixel camera (with video HD recording) with a large sensor and superior Carl Zeiss optics. The device's casing is made mainly from anodised aluminium - it is wrapped in a uni-body style. Other notables features include HDMI out (with Dolby surround sound), USB OTG and a penta-band 3G radio. Symbian^3 also offers a variety of performance and usability improvements.
As part of Nokia's Open for Ideas event I spent some time at Nokia's Espoo offices in Finland. At one end of the building there's a Nokia experience lounge where you can see all of the latest products and get demos of the latest services. Here's a quick visual look at some of the products and demos.
The Nokia 6700 slide (also known as the 6700s) is a S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 smartphone with a slider form factor. It features an aluminium casing / body and a five megapixel camera with Carl-Zeiss optics. It's one of the best examples of how the division between smartphone and feature phones has become increasingly blurred. This should be considered at lower end of the mid tier (or the upper end of the low tier) - a distinction which depends on the market you are looking at.
The Nokia N97 mini is the little sister on the N97. It retains nearly all the features of its sister device, but packs them into a smaller and cheaper package. There the dual device mode - touchscreen slate or physical keyboard touch hybrid - and the usual array of multimedia and smartphone features.
The Nokia 5730 is a consumer and music focused Symbian phone with a side sliding QWERTY keyboard. It also features a Carl Zeiss lens, 3.2 megapixel camera. It is the sister devices of the Nokia E75.
The Nokia E52 is Nokia's new entry level Eseries device. Its sister device is the E55 (which has a different keyboard). The E52 features a 3.2 megapixel camera, A-GPS with compass, WiFi and WCDMA connectivity all in a slim-line form factor.
The Nokia E55 is Nokia's first half QWERTY keyboard phone; it's also one of its slimmest. This Eseries Symbian device features include a GPS with integrated compass, 3.2 megapixel EDoF camera, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The software includes the full range of Ovi services from Nokia Maps, to Files on Ovi and N-Gage.
The Nokia N97 is Nokia's 2009 summer flagship. It combines the key trends of touchscreen and QWERTY in an all rounder device. It has an intrgarted GPS (with compass), 5 megapixel camera and 32 GB of internal memory. It includes the key Ovi services and a customisable, widget based, interactive homescreen.
The Nokia N86 8MP is Nokia's first 8MP camera device. Camera features include wide angle Carl Zeiss lens and optics, variable aperture, mechanical shutter and motion-blur reduction. There's 8GB on on board memory, integrated GPS and the Ovi suite of services and software. the N86 8MP was announced at MWC 2009.
Sony Ericsson's Satio phone (formely known as Idou) runs S60 5th Edition and has a 12 megapixel camera. It uses the latest OMAP 3 prcoessors and will be one of the most technically sophisticated phones on the market when it comes out in Q4 2009. These photos show some of it features and were taken at the London launch event in May.
The Nokia E55 is Nokia's thinnest ever Eseries device (9.9 mm), but still manages to pack in a lot of functionality. It has a 20 key - half QWERTY keyboard (two letters per key), a 3.2 megapixel camera, an integrated GPS (with compass) and a 1500 mAh battery. There's also tri-band 3G (HSDPA and HSUPA) and WiFi connectivity, 35 mm audio jack and ehanced messaging software.
The Nokia E75 has two faces in more ways than one. It has the same switch mode software as the E66 and E71 and a slide out full QWERTY keyboard to complement the standard keypad. It also features updating messaging software allowing for an improved email experience. There's integrated GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5 mm audio jack and much more.
