IMAP mail and securety

I've been happily using imap-mail with my 9210. Now I got a notification from my provider (university) that unsecured connections will not work after a while and that I should start using a SSL protocol. When I go to the settings of my mail folder, I can see an option of TLS protocol, but it does not work. No SSL is available. No help from the university was available either. :( Does any of you guys know what I should do?

I'm sure I heard of an e-mail program that did that for the 9210, can't think where I heard it or what it was called though. There should be hope though.

I've been browsing and so far I've found Active Mail by Cibenix that seems to have a lot of features. But it does not mention SSL anywhere. Does anyone have it? Does it know this protocol?

Then there is F-secure SSH but that's not what I need is it?
