Can't reinstall Ovi game

Hi all!

Yesterday I purchased Sparkle. I played the game, it's a good game, I'm pleased with the purchase

Later in the day I was browsing through the phone's installed applications and noticed that Sparkle had installed to C:

Being an ex-N97 owner I didn't like that and decided to move it to E: or F:

I uninstalled the game.

Then I connected to Ovi Store (on phone) and it says that the game is 'Installed' and my only option is 'Launch'. When I select Launch it says 'No pending installations'.

If I look at another game that I've previously downloaded/installed and then removed then Ovi Store shows 'Not installed' and a 'Download' button.

Any suggestions how I can make Ovi Store recognise that Sparkle is no longer installed so that I can reinstall it?

Cheers!
Matt.
PR1.1
Ovi Store version:2.04.00041

P.S.
My Ovi Store settings are set to install apps and media on F: so I don't know why it installed to C: in the first place.

I'm also getting fed up with having to put in my username and password even though I've applied the 'Remember me' set up several times.

In your Ovi store account, you can chose where to download your apps to.
Check into your "Account" settings and select "E" Mass Memory or To "F" SD card.
Try and re-download again and it should be able to work.
You've probably selected "C".

Thanks for the suggestion. I've now tried changing the download location to back to C: then to E: and F: and checking the download option each time, but the game always appears as 'Installed' :(

I'm guessing that there's a system file on my phone somewhere that flags the game as being installed. If I could find and remove/change it....

Sorry, just re-read your post. When then game gets to your phone, does it give the option to install on the other drives? Also, you could try to log into your Ovi account via a web page then look at your account then your installs. If the game is listed there, delete it, sign back in on your phone and see if it is listed there. If it's not, download again and carefully install to E or F drive. That's all I can think of.

At the moment I can't find a way to get the game to my phone to test the drive installation options because it is Ovi Store itself that is saying the game is already installed. I can't remember if there was drive installation option during the original installation but if there had been I would not have selected C: To be honest I don't think that the installation location is the problem, I think that the problem is with the Ovi Store app.

I looked into your suggestion about deleting it from my account but that would mean I have to pay again. I tested this with another game that I'd previously bought, downloaded and removed but have no intention of downloading again. It was Astraware Casino. Prior to deleting from my download history the store showed a 'Download' button for this game. I then deleted it from my Ovi download history and now the game shows a 'Buy' button.

Annoyingly I also downloaded a free hangman game (from Ovi Store) yesterday which I've now uninstalled, and Ovi Store now gives me the option to download that game again. So why is Sparkly behaving differently?

grrrr...

Thanks for your suggestions so far greycounciller, very much appreciated.

Solved!

I've fixed this problem by uninstalling the Ovi Store app from my phone and then reinstalling it.

In the phone's 'Installed applications' list there was:

ovi (1MB)
Ovi Store (3MB)
Ovi Store Installer (5MB)

It was the second one, Ovi Store (3MB), that I uninstalled.

WARNING!
Before reinstalling Sparkle I checked that my Ovi Store 'Installation preferences' were set to E: for both Games/Applications and Images/Audio/Video, but the game has actually installed two components to the C: drive.

C: Sparkle (21MB)
C: Sparkle installer (18MB)

I've now uninstalled 'Sparkle installer' and the game is still working fine.

Hope this can help others.

Cheers!
Matt.

Just one word of caution though.
I had to delete and restore the data on my phone a number of times and each time I reinstalled my paid for apps from Ovi store.
This time however, with 1 particular bird based game (!), I was told that i'd re-downloaded " past my limit and would have to purchase the game again".
So beware!!
