MP3 to AMR, HOW TO?

I'd like to convert some MP3's to AMR so that I can play them with regular Nokia 7650 Recorder App. Is there anyway to do that? I've tried AMR converter wich converts WAV to AMR but I haven't been able to convert any file, I gives me an error.

The file is no PCM 16Bit Mono bla bla... when in fact IT IS!

Anyone?....

First, convert MP3 to WAV, then WAV to AMR.

First of all, convert the mp3 file to wave pcm using a program that can do it like winamp.

Here is a little faq on version 2.8 I have

Choose options-preferences then plug ins-output and doubleclick diskwriter plugin, then make any changes if you want such as the place in which the files will be saved.

Now I really don't recomment to make it amr. there is a program out there that can do it but it is very buggy and the quality is hell bad. Instead encode the file you want using the gsm codec that comes with every windows above 95.

I have created some time ago a thread about it, just check it out

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7834

It has a quick guide to convert to gsm.

The bitrates are 16-32-64kbps depending on the quality you choose (11-22-44khz). And the quality is far better than amr's...

MemphisX, the link you've given seems to be down.

Even I want to know how to work with GSM encoded audio files on Symbian.

Someone from Symbian newsgroup "discussion.epoc.c++" told me that there is TMdaGsmWavCodec class available.
But I couldn't find it anywhere.
I've searched in Symbian 6.1 (Series60 v0.9/1.2) docs, Symbian 7.0/7.0s docs.
But I couldn't find any documentation on it.

Do you know of any articles/links???

TIA,

Found It!

Hey Guys,
When I was looking for a way to convert my .mp3 files to .amr files, i found your thread on this forum. I have the Nokia 3200, and I wanted to convert them too.
After looking for a while, I found a guy who told me that you can just convert your files with Nokia PC Suite (already had it on my pc).
Just go to www.nokia.com/phones/3200 and then too something like 'software and support for this phone'. There you can download Nokia PC Suite.
Then install and open PC Suite and start up Multimedia Converter/Player.
Then open the .mp3 file, and save it as .amr.
Easy as hell and no great loss of quality.
Thaught you guys might like this help.

Mobile Music Polyphonic

Hi, I got a software - Mobile Music Polyphonic from http://www.ringtone4me.com can convert mp3 files to amr format directly, you can select part music from whole long mp3 file with the software. But it is a shareware.
