GPRS on Palm TT + Nokia 7650 via BT = dropped connection

Hi people!

I'm having a strange problem when connecting my Palm to GPRS via BT
through my Nokia 7650. The connection is established,
however it drops as soon as i start transferring data.
I'm able to ping though , but anything
heavier, just makes the GPRS and then BT connection disconnect.

Same connection, but through IR works fine. Also the
same Nokia 7650 works with my laptop without dropping connection.

Any ideas?

P.S.: I have firmware v. 3.16 on the phone.

What palm are you using?

I have heard reports that this problem is not restricted to Nokia phones and that it is likely to be a plam software bug.

A colleague of mine did the following:

Tried a 7650 with a Palm over GPRS - failed
Tried an ericsson GPRS handset with same palm over GPRS - failed
Tried 7650 and same palm over CSD connection - OK
Tried 7650 and different palm device over GPRS - OK

Looks like a Palm software problem to me.

I'm using 7650 with Palm TT over GPRS through BT.
The strange thing is that the same connection but through Irda works fine.
7650 with TT over GPRS through IR - OK
7650 with TT over CSD through BT/IR - OK
7650 with laptop over GPRS through BT/IR - OK

Only this particular configuration i want to use , gives me this problem :-)
Frankly speaking , this indeed looks like a Palm issue (haven't tried other Palms besides TT). However someone on the Palm forum told me that he's been able to fix the problem by upgrading Nokia's firmware to 4.39 (i'm using 3.16).

Palm support was not helpfull (naturally).

I wouold suggest the Firmware upgrade too, I am still on 3.16, but want to go up to 4.x when I can get to an NSC.

Integrating devices is always fun!!!
