We'd have heard of it........

Well, I don't know! I just phoned my local Nokia service centre. I figured it was time to upgrade my firmware. They asked me what the matter was and I old them about the phone crashing when there's only a little memory remaining.

They told m that they'd never heard of such a bug. I advised them to visit AAS, and they said "Well, not being funny, but if there were such a bug, we'd know about it, wouldn't we?"

What can I say?

You can first say them that a firmware is supposed to be a fix update for the phone. If there's nothing wrong with the phone, then why is there a new firmware available?

Second, firmware upgrades should be part of warranty. At least they are in Finland, and without charge (that's what the warranty means 8) )

Third, print out this page and show it to them(includes info on firmware 3.16 fixes, including low memory problem):

http://www.mwiacek.com/english/gsm/firmware/firm7.htm

I'm pretty sure they can contact Nokia and verify that new firmwares are there to fix existing problems such as those mentioned in that document.

Exactly, just because you havn't been affected by a Microsoft Security Failure or Crash does not mean you shouldn't protect your PC against harm.

Looks like your NSC are proposing the old close the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Once again, it has been proven how ignorant people working at nokia service centers are...
