Free, Fun and Facebook-friendly - Friends Birthday

Launched in the Ovi Store (as freeware) is 'Friends Birthday', a small app with a heart of gold - in that it will endear itself to you and you to your friends, as you seemingly remember (and do something about) all their birthdays. Using your Facebook information, Ewan has taken a look at Friends birthday in this mini-review - it's well worth a download.

Read on in the full article.

Like it and Facebook integration would've been well nifty for me rather than manually plowing through it when building my N97 contacts.

Small shout out for "Best Birthday for S60 5 th ed" a paid (£1.50) app on OVI store which once I'd manually updated my contacts with their birthdays saved me loads of time by integrating them into the S60 calendar something in my naivete I assumed would happen automatically in Symbian. Yes could've done it myself but £1.50 seemed reasonable trade off for hundred entries in Cal and it does have auto birthday message functions, not as slick or integrated into your Social Net as "Friends Birthday" but saved me some time and does integrate into the main S60 Calendar.

Thumbs up

Another freeware app that deals with birthdays is simply named: Birthdays

Birthdays lists birthdays from Contacts in chronological order and writes birthdays to the Calendar.

http://www.md-soft.info/en/software/...ays/index.html

Cited from the app description:

Birthdays list
- Birthdays reads the birthdays stored in the Contacts application.
- The birthdays are displayed in a list and ordered after the remaining time until the next birthday.
- For each birthday name, date of birth, age and remaining time until the next birthday are shown.
- When Birthdays is switched to foreground, the birthday list is updated automatically.
- With the integrated search function individual birthdays can be found in the birthday list easily.

Calendar entries
- The birthdays can be written to the Calendar of the S60 smartphone.
- The birthdays can be written as meeting, memo or anniversary.
- When the birthdays are written as meeting or memo the current age is added to the calendar entry.
- The birthdays are written either for the current year or for the current and the next year.
- Birthdays written to the calendar of the S60 smartphone by Birthdays for S60 can be deleted
