How to format phone memory?
I finally got my shitone (new word for Nokia phones) to work after v20 bricked it.
Now I am puzzled...there used to be a definite way to format the actual phone memory, not mass memory. Hard reset doesn't wipe everything...in my case hard reset only restarts my phone - it doesn't reset anything...weird, eh?
So, how do you format phone memory? Windows 7 won't give me the option, even if I select Mass Media mode.
Also, what are the 2 new widgets on the home screen? They won't load...in any way....not programs not widgets.

You can format the E: or F: drives using the N97's file manager application.
Start File manager.
Select (Open) the memory that you want to format.
1. For E: drive.....Options->Format mass memory
2. For F: drive.....Options->Memory card options->format
BTW...it is recommended to format all removable memory cards using the N97 instead of formatting them on your PC.

rdcinhou, he's talking about the phone memory, usually known as C:
@MonarchX
Had the same question yesterday. Upgraded to 20.0.019, installed X-Plore and HelloOx 2.02 on C: and tried to hack the phone (which is not possible at the moment, as I've learned) and wanted to clean up the phone. My experience was:
- Hard reset with Shift + Space + Backspace: both applications were still there
- *#7370#: both applications were still there
- *#7780#: both applications were still there
- Format with the file manager: No format option for C:
- Reset to factory settings via the menu: both applications were still there
- reflashed: both applications were still there
UDP sure is a fine thing, but HOW can one wipe clean C:, and I really mean clean.

Same issue here!
Freaking hard reset does NOT clean your C drive. It just does not. There has to be a way to clean this god damn piece of shit phone that causes more trouble than anything else!

What do you wish to remove from the phones memory, C: drive?

What I want is a clean OS with the minimal amount of pre-installed software. I want it as RAW as possible.

Think I understand MonarchX.
The rawest you'll get it is by doing a hard reset and then installing, or reinstalling, the firmware, as described here:-
http://mobile.allaboutsymbian.com/ne...20_and_a_n.php
This will give you about 50+MB free.
However, some files on C: cannot be deleted, even though they are empty (and don't use any space as such), because they are part and parcel of the firmware.
Others, like widgets can be downloaded from Ovi Store and E: selected, thus effectively moving them from C:.
I use Y-Browser in preference to the built in File Manager, as it allows me to look at all drives, C; D; E; F; and Z:
It can be downloaded for free here:-
http://www.drjukka.com/YBrowser.html
Hope this helps.

After the HARD RESET, you will want to go into
Settings->Application Manager->Installed Applications and see where each are installed (indicated by the presence of or lack of an icon to the right of each item).
Many non-system items can be uninstalled (from C: ) and then reinstalled to E: saving C: drive space.
So far I've been able to find all of the non-OS items that come with the original distribution, except AMAZON.
It would be a nice one to keep (I have a folder that I call eCommerce that I put such things in such as Ovi Store, Handango, etc.).
If anyone knows where to get this application....let me know!
