Nokia will release N900 before v20 firmware
Nokia effectively utilizes the "as*hole" business model:
-release a crappy N97 that people will not consider a keeper
-promise firmware that fixes everything but it doesn't - less hope for consumer
-release N900 as the new flagship device and keep withholding firmware
This way more people will buy N900 because they have little hope for firmware that it not even released and considerting how impatient targeted people are - they'll just buy N900. Nokia doesn't target average consumer, but a wealthy/semi-wealthy consumer that were willing to spend $750+ on N97.

Is this just speculation or have they confirmed a date for the N97 firmware?
As far as I know, the N900 release date has also gone back and is sometime in November presently - this is just what I've picked up when looking for N97 v20 and I'm not following it closely as I have NO INTENTION of giving Nokia more money.

And is there a point to follow Nokia dates? They are random numbers if you noticed. Nothing gets done on schedule in that company.

More like an assumption based on historical data and the current trends.

Maybe MonarchX meant...
"Nokia will release N900 before v20 firmware (hits the UK)"

I truly hope not!
But If that happens, blame your operators.

i think he is referring to the time it took for the last update to be released for the unbranded UK N97s, which has nothing to do with operators
