Undeletable Folders???

I have a problem on my 9210 in which there are folders like 1 called
(^2á]$Sd.jÖ
If I go in through File manager I get a Note saying The Folder Was Not Found.
It also does a similar thing if I use my DaneElec USB MMC reader.

Sounds like there may be unprintable characters in the folder name.

Some ideas;

Delete it from the command prompt in your card reader on your PC using the command prompt and a wildcard

Cut and paste it into another folder and delete that folder into which you pasted the offending folder (you could try this on the 9210 or the PC).

Don't mean to spook you, but an MMC that did that do me died unceremoniously a few days later.

Bloody annoying that folder thing....can't delete it, can't access it. My solution was to format the whole thing (which might not be an option for you!). I suggest you copy everything on the card to your PC and format the card, then copy back whatever folders you want that are undamaged. As for the damaged ones, I hope you didn't loose any data....

I've had the same problem a couple of times, it was caused by removing the MMC card from my USB card reader before Windows had closed all the files on it.

Deleting using wildcards etc does NOT work. In the end I had to move all the good files onto my PC and format the card and copy the files back again.

Using USB it just took a few minutes... if you do not have USB Card reader it's gonna take some time via the serial cable...

I've since found that the safest thing is to always rightclick the USB reader in Windows Explorer and choose Eject which will close all files properly.

The only solution for this is to copy everything from your MMC (except the bad directory/file) to your PC, format the card and copy everything back.

The reason you have this folder is you've removed the MMC from the card reader while it was still being written to. If your using windows and you copy something to the card, windows may tell you that it has finished writing to the card when it hasn't (this is also the case when writing to a floppy disk). If your Card reader has activity lights on it then you can see if you copy lots of files (or a large file) that even though the copy window has gone, the activity light on the reader will still flash to show that it's still writing to the card. The only solution is to leave the card in until you are 100% sure it has finished, and/or before removing the card in windows explorer, right click on the drive letter and select eject, this should ready the card for ejection.
