Your Friday N97 reading...

Just because we've (temporarily) stopped writing about the Nokia N97 (back in its box, awaiting v20 firmware in my case!) doesn't mean that you should be short of reading matter. Clinton Jeff has spent time putting not one but two N97s (one black and white white!) through an exhaustive photoshoot and review, so if you're craving more N97 discussion then head over to his self-proclaimed 'Ye Giant Nokia N97 Review'.

Read on in the full article.

Same

This is funny, I also put my N97 back in the box as new until the release of the 2.0 Firmware.
Using an iphone 3G and my 5800 XpressMusic.
But I miss some stuff of the N97

I put my N97 back in it's box and sold it, biggest waste of money I have ever bought, buggy, underperforming and flawed

That's what I call balanced and non-paid review.

Thanks for the info.

Same here. Put mine back in the box, took it back to the flagship store here in Helsinki. They admitted that they are getting returns as well. I find it funny that it has to be put away until it can be made better. Why not better from the start? I guess as long as people are willing to make excuses for Nokia and lend themselves to being beta testers this trend will continue. The money I got from the return of the N97 went towards the N86, the Nokia BT Stereo Speakers and a few other goodies. Even after playing with the N900 for a bit and being impressed, I am sure Nokia will find a way to screw it up. My days as a Nokia early adopter, or even high-end, flagship (supposedly anyway) device purchaser are over. Nokia simply fails to deliver the goods.

refresh library aint the only way

in that review, he mentioned that refreshing the music library was the only way to get the phone to detect new music.

thats not quite true.

the proper way is as follows

1. set the default usb connection mode on the n97 as media transfer.
2. connect it to a pc via usb and choose the media transfer mode, and then open the file manager on the phone and lock it on the screen where it allows you to choose the memory types.
3. open windows media player, drag playlists/tracks onto the sync list and hit the sync button.

viola, playlists and songs will appear on your n97 without having to manually recreate them on the phone!

not sure what most people are complaining about with the n97. with the v12 firmware, its fairly stable, and performance was comparable to my old 5800 on v30 firmware.
only thing that annoyed me was that a week after i bought my n97, nokia started taking pre orders for the n900...
