Hello!! im kinda of a newb and i honestly don't know anything about flashing now days, the only experience i have had is with flashing a n80 about 3 years ago to get a language pack on it...
anyway i just got a n97 as a gift from a friend and it seems to be a European version possibly from England since that's the first thing i see in maps... i live in and im only able to get Edge access no 3G access since we have a different frequency 850/1900 just like AT&T, so i was wondering if flashing my phone to a different model such as the n97 NAM model would change the frequency or not since I'm pretty sure frequency is not hardware related because that would be plain stupid.
If so could you give me a few links or such since im still trying to learn how to do this....
thanks, =D
hi,
be careful.
Flashing in principle does not effect your frequency, if you do not change your country-code; but if you change that code (you can find it inside your device under the battery) to a code, which is not belonging to the same hardware group ( RM...) then you may brick your device totally.
However, i heard from a guy, who did this successfully. But again you risk your device ( and the guarantee is gone anyway).
no risk , no fun
PS:
(for N97 you can use NSS- not NSU 😊 to change your country code, a table-list of the various codes you can find on this forum. Also a description how to do it.
Hey thanks for the reply, when you said however are you talking about it may not brick my phone or it may do change my frequency? because thats is my goal to get WCDMA 850/1900 working or just one of those....
thanks again...
