Memory Stick info - for anyone interested

After much digging around trying to find info for when bigger memory sticks should become available I finally found this interesting snippet.

http://www.memorystick.com/en/msupdate/18_1.html

This gives the impression that 64mb duo sticks will be out 10th feb in japan and that 128mb sticks will be out on march 21st. Currently in the uk we've got expansys saying they've got stock (but they're a lying bunch of toerags!) and dabs quoting a 2 day lead time for 64mb sticks...no word at all on 128mb sticks.

If anyone has any extra info could they please post it here? or if anyone has come across information regarding the release of bigger duo sticks then i'd also be interested to hear about that...

I got the 64 MB duo from Expansys a week or so ago...it is the Magic Gate format and works great!

Ouch

I so didn't want to hear that :( I posted an order with them 2 days ago when they were showing 70 in stock....they dragged their arse processing payment and then just as it was showing "waiting to ship" they changed to out of stock...not the first time they'd done that so I was convinced they just didn't have stock in the first place.....looks like I might've been wrong!

Quite literally can't find them in stock anywhere else...if anyone hears of any then PLEASE let me know

Magic Gate format

I'm not too clear what the difference between magic gate format and normal format are? are there any limitations with magic gate format?

Gavsta...understand your concerns...every time I order, I call to confirm stock and chase to make sure it gets shipped!!! I think I have hassled them enough now so they are tired of letting me down...it's too painful for them!

Cheers!

The magicgate cards feature SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative) compliant technology to allow restrictions on copying of music files... HOWEVER neither mp3's nor the hardware in the P800 support this technology so it's treated like a normal DUO stick...

I have the MagicGate 64Mb stick from Expansys and can confirm that a) it works normally to full cpapcity and b) i have no trouble copying/deleting/moving my mp3's to/from my P800...
