Not tried that route, but have fring set up, Skype and MSN work fine via that, no problems.

"Messenger cannot log you in"
1. Are you logged in on another computer or logged in "mobile"? Try logging out on the other platforms (PC or mobile) and then logging in.
2. Are you connected to a network? (WiFi, 3G, Edge)
3. What country are you in? I seem to remember something about MSN mobile (standalone applet) ONLY working in the UK (i.e. functionality is regional).
4. Have you considered using another messenger application--like Fring (available from Ovi store) which can simultaneously handle connections to MSN, AOL, Yahoo, etc.?

Hmm yeah it wouldn't let me in either.
Plus when I tried to go to the access point settings, it didn't show anything, so I don't even know if it's trying to use GPRS or WiFi
