YouTube goes native for S60 3rd Edition
Hot on the heels of their new Mobile site, YouTube has now also released an official (native) S60 client application. It is compatible with most S60 3rd Edition phones. The video quality is good, and looks to have been optimised for QVGA screen resolution. There's a basic interface to browse and search through YouTube's extensive video catalog. All videos are shown in full screen, but widescreen videos are shown in a 'letter-box' format. Read on for more information and screenshots.
Read on in the full article.

Kinda weird text input doesn't work on the 5800, since there are touch specific controls while playing, and you can drag the carousel with most played etc videos quite nicely.
Still, the video is kinda choppy compared to the same app running on my N95, and even to the new m.youtube.com.

this is good. now you can hafve the sound on without having to ahve warning tones on. seems strange its over 2mb for something much simpler than the original jar file. i cant seem to find any option to log in so i wonder why it is so big

Not bad. Shame you can't save the .flv files locally so you can play them back without buffering or stutter. I just watched Ewan episode 5 and Steve's Phone Show (78?) on the N810 (cached on mytube) and on the E90 (streamed on the youtube.sis through my home wifi). Chalk and cheese, night and day, etc.

worse than java version
So far for me it seems far more limited than the Java version which works OK on my E71..
- This version seems to do MUCH more buffering (to the point it is useless).
- This version doesn't support logging into my account to view my subscriptions..
So better off using Java version or logging in through browser..

I still prefer Mobitubia, mainly due to 'save' option.

N82 - joy. E61 - no joy.
Went through m.google.com for download.
Mobitubia and EmTube haven't worked for me on either phone for months. "invalid clip format" all over the shop.

Works like a charm on my N82. videos start playing right away, no unnecessarily long buffering times. so far the only thing that's missing is the option to save files, and no featured tab.
and considering that Mobitubia crashes more often than not. this is a much better app.

The video seems to be of a much lower quality than the new flash based mobile site. I've been pretty impressed with the mobile site now, besides not being able to save a clip.

I installed this, and then had the first total crash of my phone (battery out job) for about a year. Not too impressed....

It appears it's English-only at the moment. If I select Italian (my 1st language) in the YouTube preferences, it tells me "your device is not supported", which is misleading since my device (N82) is indeed supported, just not my language. Selecting English, the download starts right away.

Works very well on my E71. Shame it doesn't have all the full features, but still good for quick access to videos.
