So NSU gave me an error during the firmware update process and told me not to unplug it and wait till the continue button is available (was greyed out). Phone restarted a couple of times, first went to a white screen, then white screen with the new fw # written on top followed my something else (forgot) then by nokia. Then it went black and it kept making the usb disconnect, connect sound on my pc.
I left it like that for about a bit then continue was available so i pressed it and all it did was restart the NSU and it started searching for the phone and it couldn't find it.
now if plug the device into usb and i press the power button once, it will make the usb connect sound, then usb disconnect about 5 secs later. If i hold the power button, same thing but then about 10-15secs later the screen will light up but stay grey/black, it'll do that for about 20 secs then off
is it bricked and do i have to send it in? i've tried to power it on while holding the green button, *, and 3 and it just does the same thing.
Please i'm desperate for help , searched everywhere and i was planning on selling it this weekend 😞

Switch off your handset remove the battery from your phone. Put the battery back and switch on your phone. Make sure you have sufficient charge on the phone.

Unfortunately no change. I've left the device with the battery out for over 4 hours and tried and same thing.
I press the power button, it does the short vibrate, screen gets power, stays lit up for about 30 secs, then powers off.
If i leave the battery out then try, i only have to short press the power button, after that i have to hold it for 2 secs for it to vibrate then screen gets power and same thing, turns off after 30 secs
the device battery was almost full and charging before i attempted the upgrade with the NSU. Also now when i plug in the charger, it doesn't beep and show its charging.
no way out huh? time to send it in?
This happened to me, but I just ran the software update again and it fixed it.
i tried that, when i connect it to my pc via usb and press the power button it connects, then promptly disconnects within 5 min.
I've tried to do this while the NSU is searching for a device but it just doesn't find it....

Did you find a solution to this problem? I have the same trouble with my e66
always need to take it into a Nokia store at that point... have that issue now with my E71 for firmware update 400.21.013
Did the update, now when I turn it on it vibrates and screen is lit for about 20 sec max and then turn itself off again.
Was told that it would probably cost $49 to have it wiped and reformatted.
Thats why you always need to do a backup before you do an update.
Any more info about this problem? I got the same problem after trying to flash to v4
