you hit important point here: Microsoft is not thinking in short-term like several Symbian manufacturers but in LONG-TERM (many years) and in broad-way.

By broad-way I mean: mobile phones are just one element of huge mosaic consisting of X-Box, Windows Longhorn, distributed .NET technologies and Media2Go and several other upcoming and existing technologies.

yes, it may take up to 5 years until Microsoft will dominate cell phones, but it will happen certainly, it is MANIFEST DESTINY (American term).

* * *

As far as Palm vs Pocket PC is concerned then who said that Microsoft failed? Now, after Dell started selling dirty cheap Pocket PCs nobody can say about any losing...

I have never ever heared of anyone speak with such an hypothetical manner about the future of Mobiles phones. If this, if that, we waited 10 years because M$ thinks longterm. Well I am alive now, and I dont care for the future. I will care when time comes. For all I know, Symbian is ruling the mobile industry at the moment. If (and thats a big if) something changes, then and only then there will be a need to brag about M$. At the moment there is no such thing as M$ in mobile phones.

Thats right ... I forgot, M$ will one day rule the world. Who says the days of capitalism is dead. We should all get down now and pray. Pray that M$ will spare us our measly lives because ... yawn. Must have been a dream I just had. Sorry.

I have had enough of this conversation ... yawn. TTFN

I think jpzr is confusing sth.. He believes that symbian=nokia and that's a big mistake made by many. So he makes all this waffle because he hates nokia. But unfortunately only series xx are nokia's property and because the licenses of this ui are very cheap any developer prefers them than creating a new one. Not to mention that se p800 is not using a nokia ui... Microsoft on the other way and their applications are so closed to the public that makes them a very bad choice for mobile phones because companies like sendo samsung cannot have access to the os and make any changes that benefits them. They have to leave it as microsoft is giving it to them. Just look at linux. Although very young it has the biggest community of developers, you can find everything there for free, not to mention that many things on networking stuff can be done only on linux. And by the way for me it seems to be more like symbian=psion. Nokia is just the messenger...

Talking about cows: SUPER POOLAND!!!

BTW:You are not talking hi-tech,you are talking SF.

The reason M$ $martphone OS has "incremental update technology" is because M$ knew that users would constantly be finding new bugs/security holes in the OS and so the users would just be fed up of having to go to a service centre everyday to get their phone flashed! Symbian doesn't need over the air technology cos it's users won't be on first name terms with their local service point unlike M$ $martphone users!!

Can i add that the P800 in the latest release will have the feature for autoupdating WITHOUT going to an service point? just d/l the file from the SE page it flashes your rom on the phone from the cradle. happy updating

Oh yes,i forgot that one.I guess that you can wait on jpzr's attack any minute now with facts that MS has it better.
That made me decide(finally) between the 3650 and the p800 to get a p800 because there isn't any official SE service center here so i can do firmware updates on my own.
Imagine flashing you p800 with some additional apps in the rom or some "tweaked" third party firmware.
That will rock!

I don't think he will come back again. Maybe in ten years IF microsoft will dominate the mobile phone market . He only wanted to sabotage symbian but he failed because facts were against him. After all he didn't even answered to half of the posts about the bad points of spv and microsoft...and there are more not mentioned.

Ok here are my thoughts....i've split them into Software (symbian vs. M$) and Hardware (SPV vs. 7650)

Software:
-Symbian is a more open OS
-Symbian is a more widely used OS
-Symbian has many more devices running it
-Symbian is MUCH more efficient-the admin of My Symbian said that his 52mhz 9210 was running faster than his 120mhz SPV thanks to Symbian's efficiency
-Symbian has a better 'feel' to it, Smartphone OS looks like a Pocket PC gone VERY wrong

Hardware:
-7650 has bluetooth (that is a BIG point)
-7650 has HSCSD
-7650 has native MMS support, SPV's is a third party application.
-7650 has a decent joystick
-7650 has a more inituitive design (to me, anyway)
-7650 has always-on GPRS, SPV's disconnects as soon as standby mode is entered
-7650 has more personalization options (menu order, etc.)
-7650 is available anywhere (BIG point for poor souls like me living outside of Orange)
-7650 has a built-in camera.

The only thing i truly like about SPV is the SDIO. But look at the upcoming BenQ P30: it has SDIO slot and it runs Symbian. And SDIO cards on SPV does NOT make up for lack of bluetooth, HSCSD, camera, always-on GPRS, superior Symbian OS.
Cheers

Well, one thing you hav to look at is that the SPV is MS's first smartfone so its bound to have some defects.......the N7650 has the backing of NOKIA's years of experience..........i personally dont think the SPV beats the N7650 or the SE P800.......... but who knows in the future sometime maybe MS will come out with serious competition for the P800 n & 7650.......... for now, im more than happy with my SE P800. N7650 is good too.

Just read this and had a great time! very good entertainment! Also i had a g200...
I have seen people around with SPVs and ask them how they are, always get negative replies.
