need to backup my messages from a symbian series 60 fone to a series 40 fone

i have a nokia N82, & i am buying a nokia 8800 arte soon, & i have about 1700 messages i want to backup!
is there anyway to backup these messages?

Two possibilities, at least:

Use the Switch/Transfer application on the phone(s).

Back up one phone with Nokia PC Suite and then restore with the same PC Suite to the other phone.

but does the series 40 fone support transfer &/or restore of a series 60 fone?
