Frozen Nokia N95 8gb - help needed
Some help please!
My Nokia freezes on boot up - by this I mean I can only see the opening screen and cannot access the applications menu. I think the problem is that programmes are loading on start up eating ram. Also, I think there was a problem with Shozu not being able to upload photos which may have added to the ram eat up issue perhaps?
What options do I have to resolve?
Thanking you in advance.

What do you mean by opening screen ? Do you get only the screen saying "NOKIA" , or also "the reaching hands" + opening tune , or maybe even "Desk" with clock and your providers name etc. , before the phone freezes ? Anyway , probably it needs cleaning :
1.Take out battery a while , put it back and restart
2. Take out MemoryCard and restart without Card
When you have "Desk"screen :
3. Soft reset *#7780# This brings phone back to factory settings
4. Hard reset *#7370# This can DELETE data like possibly calender or
also others
When you only see "NOKIA" before freezing :
5. "Vulcan Death Grip" : !!!!Deletes all data !!!!!! Except of course ROM and files on Memory card .
- Phone Off
- press : Green answerkey + 3 key + * key + Phone On key . Hold them at the same time (four vinger method)
This is of course only for emergencies to make the Phone runnjng again
.
Or see otherwise your Nokia Service Point .
Good luck jApi NL

Many thanks for helping me here. Apologies for the delay in replying but I have been travelling.. an update as I have been travelling.
1. The phone goes as far as the "Desk" with clock and manages to connect with my provider - SFR.
Apps open up on switch on automatically - fring etc. I can get to the gallery by hitting the right menu button - but cannot get to the applications menu by hitting the left menu button.
2. Removing battery for a while does not appear to help - and there is no memory card in the N95 8GB.
3. I cannot do a soft reset via the code supplied as the 0 key is non-responsive.
4. ditto for a hard reset.
5. Vulcan death grip did not help?
Any further thoughts?

I guess the only thing I can think of is to try and reinstall the firmware. Any other thoughts?

Got the same problem only with my E75. Is there any troubleshooter already?

Repeat the vulcan death grip several times - it's so fiddly to do it rately works first time.
Also, remove your memory card as some corrupt app could be launching from there at boot up.
As stated elsewhere, if the VDG doesn't fix it, try a firmware re-install with NSU. Failing that, it's time to visit a Nokia Care Centre.

I think your phone software is out of date. Update your software and see.
