SBSH SafeWallet pro launches with PC companion

Epocware's Handy Safe is no longer the only secure database with a synced PC version - SBSH just announced SafeWallet Pro, which comes with a 'PC companion'. I'm a big fan of SBSH Papyrus on S60. I probably won't give this a go, though.

What I'm interested in is a mobile client (S60, Windows Mobile, or preferably both) which can read Password Safe / Password Gorilla files (I think that they're the same file format, although there are different versions).

Does anyone know of such an application?

I've just tried this with my Samsung i8510 and it works really well. I exported from HandySafe as a plain txt file and imported it in no problem. I just need to change the icons and it's just like it was in HS. I'm just about to buy it. I've used HandySafe since I had a SE P800 but Epocware's slow progress in making it fully compatible with the i8510 (even though they list it on their site as being fully compatible) has made my mind up.

I'm sure this program and Handy Safe are fine products. But here's my problem: they are too restrictive for my needs. Here's why. Yes, I want to be able to encrypt my sensitive information and access it on a PC and on my S60 smartphone. But suppose I change my PC or S60 phone - I don't want to pay again. I don't want to have the same problem Steve Litchfield had when he moved from a Nokia to a Samsung. I want to access my data on my UIQ3 phone. My wife has a 'dumbphone' and I want her to be able to access and change the data as well (still encrypted). I have a Blackberry for work, and I want to have a copy there as well. In case I ever get a Windows Mobile phone, I want access there. My wife has a Mac, I want the software to run on that as well. Oh and let's not forget my eeePC running Linux. Basically, I don't want any restrictions on where I store and how I access my personal information which is really really important to me. I want the software to be 100% freeware, for ever. I don't want to be paying again every time I upgrade my phone.

I don't want to be tied into any specific templates that a software developer might devise, because my needs may be completely different from his. When encrypted, I want to use a widely recognised secure algorithm. When unencrypted I want the data to be completely free format in a plain text file that can be understood by thousands of freely available programs. I want to organise and sort the data exactly how I wish. If I want to find specific information, I will use a good old search function.

So those are my needs. Not much to ask for :-)

SBSH have recently introduced a cross platform switching policy. I don't know the details in full but if you buy the S60 version and later switch to Windows Mobile then you do not pay the full price.

Send off an email to Amit Regev who leads SBSH and I bet you will be surprised with how accommodating the company is, especially when it comes to adding new features.

Password Safe and Password Gorilla are applications that share the same encrypted password file type.

There are also other applications that can process the password safe file format, some of which are listed here.

I haven't managed to find an S60 or WM application that can load the files, unfortunately.
