After three days mostly in the dark (in terms of economical data), Ewan has a few choice words for manufacturers and software designers - don't assume that an Internet Connection is always present. Because there are times, especially when roaming, when an always-on data connection can be as much a curse as a blessing.
I posted on a firum at Another Place on a not dissimilar topic this afternoon; while it's all very well introducing web services, it doesn't mean the on device data can't be better integrated and exploited:
You're absolutely right. Cloud computing has its advantages, but local copies of the data should always be automatically kept and be easily accessible.
Agree fully Ewan. I've always felt push mail or always on connectivity on a mobile is more of carrier generated hype to make more service revenues rather than anything else.
